You’ve probably heard the name Xiaomi somewhere in the news or on television. If it doesn’t ring a familiar bell, Xiaomi is a Chinese, Beijing based company that has risen to prominence in the past few years. The electronics company is the third largest smartphone distributor in the world, and the top smartphone distributor in China, having recently surpassed Samsung.
Maybe the reason you haven’t heard of the company is because Xiaomi aims its products at developing countries, with its primary consumers being China, India, and Indonesia. Although not available in the U.S. as of now, Xiaomi products may eventually come to enter Western markets as it continues its rise in its market. Although it still has a long way to go until it creeps its way up to the level of its competitors, Samsung and Apple, Xiaomi has been showing potential, with backers, with a pre-valuation value of $45 billion.
